A charming “Onigiri Bento Box” crafted from cedar wood, shaped like a rice ball. The clasp, made from cherry bark, adds a lovely accent. Its excellent breathability and moisture-regulating properties keep rice from becoming sticky, preserving its flavor even when cooled. Additionally, the antibacterial and sterilizing properties of cedar help keep the rice fresh and safe to eat. Made from straight-grained cedar, it dries quickly and remains hygienic.
Please note:
・As a natural material, each piece features unique wood grain patterns.
・Handmade by skilled craftsmen, slight variations may occur.
Care Instructions:
Before first use:
・To remove the natural tannins in the cedar, pour hot water (around 80°C / 176°F) into both the lid and the body and let sit for 2–3 minutes.
・Discard the water and allow the pieces to dry thoroughly before use.
・Do not leave water inside for extended periods, as this may cause stains.
After use:
・Wash with warm water, wipe off moisture with a cloth, and dry thoroughly.
・After washing, place the lid and body separately, facing up, in the shade to air dry completely.
・For oily stains, use a diluted mild detergent.
・Do not use in the microwave, dishwasher, or soak for long periods.
Avoid bleach, baking soda, or metal scrubbers, as they may scratch the surface and cause mold.
・Over time, the interaction between rice starch and cedar tannins may darken the wood;
this is normal and does not affect use.
・For oily foods like fried dishes, placing a cup or leaf under the food helps prevent staining.
・Before filling, you can briefly soak the box in water, discard the water, and wipe dry.
This reduces sticking and staining from rice or side dishes.
・If stains from oils appear, gently rub with fine sandpaper.
