Kakunodate Denshiro" is a brand of Fujiki Denshiro store which has kept on making high quality Kabazaiku (cherry bark craftwork) for 6 generations since its foundation in 1851 when it was Edo era.
Kabazaiku was firstly developed for auxiliary business of Samurai 200 years ago and has been come down to today in Kakunodate.
Wild cherry blossoms as the material contains bactericidal effect so as to be best suitable for protecting tea leaves from moisture thanks to the characteristics of the bark.
The tea caddy is put out by a technique called “Katamono (pottery made by mold)” and it is manufactured in the process that piles Prunus jamasakura bark and wood shavings to wrap around the wooden pattern so that the inner core (inner cylinder) and outer core (outer cylinder) can be just fit perfectly to be stuck together with metal iron.
